"World Declaration on Hydropower and Dams for African Sustainable Development", initiated by ICOLD and joined by the World Energy Council, the African Union, UPDEA, ICID and IHA, was launched during ICOLD 80^th Anniversary in 2008 in Paris. As one of national committees, Chinese National Committee on Large Dams (CHINCOLD) would like to contribute to promote the World Declaration and help African countries in water resources and hydropower development. The CHINCOLD Workshop and Technical Tour serve exactly such a purpose. The event is held annually and is aimed at 12 African experts selected in terms of "one country, one participant" every year from those working in the field of water resources, hydropower development, dam construction, or with a similar background. The event lasts one week.
