Ishimba Hydropower Station in Uganda, built by China Three
Gorges Corp.(CTG), completed the installation of the first box girder for the
transportation bridge at the downstream of the dam.
The bridge, upon completion, will serve as an important
transportation hub connecting people on both sides of the Victoria Nile,
playing a significant role in facilitating the economic development.
Built by China International Water & Electric
Corporation, a CTG subsidiary, the hydropower project boosts a capacity of 183
megawatts. The project will be funded by Uganda's Ministry of Energy and
Mineral Development for 568 million dollars.
Upon the completion of the project, the total installed
power generation in Uganda will increase by about 20 percent, which will
greatly ease power shortage in the country.
