In the 79^th Annual Meeting of International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD) on June 1^st, 2011, Prof. Chen Houqun, Academician of China Academy of Engineering, Professor of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), was granted by the Honorary Member Award of ICOLD. He was the only expert winning this prime this year.

The Honorary Member Award of ICOLD originally set in the ICOLD 68^th Annual Meeting in Beijing, in September 2000, was granted to those experts who had prestigious contributions to ICOLD, or made distinguished achievements in the field of dam engineering. There are 1 to 3 experts limited to be awarded every year. So far four Chinese experts have been granted by this honor, including Academicians Lu Youmei, Pan Jiazheng, Zhu Fangbo, and Chen Houqun.
