In the morning of April 30, 2010, Mr. Paul Heinrichs, Executive Manager of Dam Safety Committee of New South Wales, Mr. Chi-Fai Wan, Chief Engineer of Australian Black & Veatch Corporation and Mr. Victor Lo, Senior Engineer of Hongkong Development Bureau, visited CHINCOLD. Dr Jia Jinsheng, President of ICOLD, Vice President and Secretary General of CHINCOLD, met with all the guests. Ms. Guo Jun, Deputy Chief Engineer of IWHR and Mr. Xu Zeping, Deputy Secretary General of CHINCOLD also attended the meeting.

Firstly, Dr. Jia Jinsheng extended a warm welcome to the delegation of ANCOLD and Hongkong Development Bureau. He briefly introduced IWHR and CHINCOLD. Dr. Jia Jinsheng said, CHINCOLD would like to keep in contact with ANCOLD and Hongkong Development Bureau and expand exchanges and cooperation in fields of dam safety and risk management to achieve mutual development.

Mr. Paul Heinrichs and Mr. Chi-Fai Wan gave reports on “Dam Safety Management in New South Wales” and “Assessment of the Potential for Internal Erosion in Embankment Dams”, respectively. Then, they gave answers on questions of dam emergency plans, dam safety, etc. At last, both of the sides had a lively discussion on interesting topics such as dam safety management and engineer training.
