In the morning of April 5, 2010, Mr. Tadahiko SAKAMOTO, Vice President of Japan Commission on Large Dams (JCOLD), and Mr. Norihisa MATSUMOTO, Vice-President of ICOLD and also Executive Director of JCOLD, visited CHINCOLD. Dr. Jia Jinsheng, President of ICOLD, Vice President and Secretary General of CHINCOLD, met with them. Members who attended the meeting also included Vice Secretary General of CHINCOLD, Mr. XU Zeping and Deputy Director of the Technical Department of CHINCOLD, Ms. Zheng Cuiying.

President Jia gave JCOLD delegation a warm welcome. Later, Mr. MATSUMOTO provided a detailed introduction to the preparatory work for the 80th Annual Meeting and the 24th Conference of ICOLD to be held in 2012 in Kyoto, Japan. President JIA Jinsheng praised JCOLD for their efforts and put forward suggestions on some details. On behalf of CHINCOLD, Dr. Jia accepted request of JCOLD to arrange a pre-study tour in China during 2012 ICOLD Congress. Ms. Zheng Cuiying gave a proposal on the pre-study tour in detail. JCOLD showed great interests in the proposal.

The two sides also exchanged views and reached consensus on the proposal of activities of ICOLD Week held in WWC pavilion during Shanghai World Expo. Finally, they discussed and exchanged views on the planning and preparatory work for the International symposium on Modern Technology and Long-term Behavior of Dams to be held in 2011 in Zhengzhou, China, which will be organized by CHINCOLD, JCOLD and KNCOLD.
