Upon the invitation of United States Society on Dams (USSD), Mr. Zhou Dabing, Vice President of CHINCOLD and President of China Society for Hydropower Engineering, led a delegation to America for visit from April 12 to 16, 2010. Members also included Dr. Jia Jinsheng, President of ICOLD, Vice President and Secretary General of CHINCOLD, and also Vice President of China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), Mr. Cui Yihao, Deputy Director of the Division of Research Management and Planning of IWHR, as well as Dr. Zheng Cuiying, Deputy Director of the Technical Department of CHINCOLD. During the visit, an Agreement for Technical Cooperation and Exchange was signed between CHINCOLD and USSD.

In the morning of April 13, 2010, the delegation attended the 30th Annual Meeting of USSD held in Sacramento, California. President of ICOLD, Dr. JIA Jinsheng made a keynote speech ICOLD Update in the plenary meeting.

In the afternoon, commissioned by Mr. Wang Shucheng, the President of CHINCOLD, Mr. JIA Jinsheng, as Vice President and Secretary General of CHINCOLD, signed the Agreement for Technical Cooperation and Exchange between CHINCOLD and USSD with President of USSD, Mr. Hertel. According to the agreement, CHINCOLD and USSD will conduct exchanges and cooperation in dam technology in the coming five years. The two sides may arrange technical tours in accordance with their needs, share experience and research fruits on mutually interested issues, and organize training programs for young professionals.

After the meeting, the delegation visited Folsom reinforcement project and the upper pool of Gianelli pumped-storage power station, San Luis Dam and Reservoir.

During the trip, the delegation met with Professor McCann of Stanford University and Mr. Thomas, President of Natural Heritage Institute to discuss the interested topics and future cooperative pattern, and formed initial intent of cooperation in such fields as anti-seismic study of hydropower engineering and sharing of international rivers.
