The 1^st International Symposium on Rockfill Dams will be organized by Chinese National Committee on Large Dams (CHINCOLD) and Brazilian Committee on Large Dams (CBDB) in October 18~20, 2009 in Chendu, China. The organizing committee would like to suggest some countries to recommend some projects as International Milestone Rockfill Dam Projects. A special celebration to award the representatives (owner, designer, construction contractor, etc.) of accepted projects will be held during the symposium.

We would like to invite experts from pioneer and leader countries in rockfill dams to nominate about 3~6 CFRDs and 3~6 core rockfill dams as candidates of International Milestone Rockfill Dam Projects. Introduction of the projects including its main innovative progress, photos and short introduction of its representatives (owner, designer, construction contractor, etc.) should be handed as references for the organizing committee of the Symposium on Rockfill Dams to examine and appraise. After evaluation by the technical committee, the project list for awarding will be finalized.

The accepted projects are planning to be awarded a Certificate and brand issued by President of ICOLD, President of CHINCOLD and Chairman of CBDB. At least one of the representatives of the accepted project should joint the Symposium on Rockfill Dams to accept the award and give a short presentation (about 5 minutes) on the project in the ceremony. Renouncing the award will be considered if no representative will be present. A brochure for all International Milestone Rockfill Dams is planning to be made as conference material delivered to all participants.

We are considering that, one brand and one certificate will be prepared for the representatives of a project. ?1,000 for one more copy is required for the other representatives (owner, designer, or construction contractor etc) to cover the expense of nominating, evaluating, brand and certificate designing and making, and other aspects related.
